White lights at reception

White holiday lights, silver and gold sparkly decorations, and ornaments make beautiful decorations for your wedding and reception.

Combine creative thinking with after Christmas and New Year's sales and you will find beautiful decorations for your wedding and reception.

  • Artificial Christmas trees: Large and small! They make terrific natural-looking woodsy decorations for your wedding and reception. If the base of the small trees includes a holiday greeting, cover it with paper in your wedding colors.
  • Strings of white (or colored) Christmas tree lights make beautiful twinkly lights for your wedding reception. They come in an array of options, so read the package carefully! Options: Green or white wire. Shimmering (occasional blinking), blinking or no-blink lights. They come in various string lengths, some with plug-ins on both sides, some not. They sell out quickly, so if you need a lot of lights, buy them before the holidays. If the store doesn't have all you need, ask the clerk to order more for you.Or ask a friend who lives in another area to pick up lights for you (and pay her back!).
  • Silver or gold sparkly tree decor, garlands, ornaments and more make spectacular decorations. They can easily be repurposed into your wedding or reception decor.
  • Clear ornaments can make beautiful decorations as they are, or pour craft paint into them, shake to create marblized patterns. Put them in a bowl or tuck them into greens in a centerpiece.
  • When you look at sale items, think about how you can use them at your wedding and reception. Be creative!
