Wedding cakes

Wedding cakes come in all flavors, textures and styles.

Your cake colors and design are your showpiece for your wedding reception -- it's what everyone wants to see -- so be sure it is a show-stopping cake! There are amazing cake designers within our region, so you have plenty to choose from.

Be sure to make appointments at least two bakeries for a tasting. Every bakery's wedding cake tastes different. Do you like the flavor and texture? Do you like how the cake is decorated?

Ask the bakery about delivery and set-up, so you can feel confident that your cake will be delivered in one piece (no pun intended) and set up correctly. Also ask your baker about how to cut the cake. Sometimes your caterer will offer to do that for you; ask your caterer.

Not everyone wants a wedding cake

Some couples choose to have a wedding cake that they will cut, then offer cupcakes to their guests. Other couples, who don't like cake, might have a pie buffet or dessert buffet (cookies, pies, cupcakes, and other fancy desserts). Create a dessert option that reflects you, as a couple, and your preferences.

For wedding favors, consider placing a chocolate at each place setting placed in a small box.
