Sunset wedding at Ocean Shores

Kendall Cummings always wanted a beach wedding. “We wanted to find somewhere we could take pictures on the beach and have our wedding feel ‘beachy,’ while having the option of being indoors if necessary, since we can’t trust the Washington weather,” she says. Kendall and Jesse Cummings were married at the Judith Ann Inn at Ocean Shores on Aug. 6, 2015.

WEDDING DÉCOR: Teal, aqua, black and charcoal gray are the colors used to decorate the wedding and ceremony. Kendall and Jesse were married under a white arbor. Forty guest chairs were tied with aqua chair ties, and flower arrangements adorned the top aisle-side corners of the aisle chairs. .

The centerpieces at the reception were teal, aqua and gray wine bottles decorated with lace or ribbon, each with a small starfish added. Aqua napkins and guest favors of M&Ms in the wedding colors helped complete the table décor.

SPECIAL MOMENTS: “Our ‘first look’ was really special to us,” describes Kendall. For the first look and photos, the couple went along the coast to the place where Jesse had proposed. “I think we were most nervous to see each other for the first time than anything else,” said Kendall. “After our first look, we were so happy to be getting married and be together that the rest of the day was just exciting and fun!”

UNEXPECTED MOMENTS: The couple forgot to give the best man and maid of honor their rings before the ceremony. When Kendall’s ring was passed to Jesse’s brother, he wasn’t anticipating the pass, and dropped the ring. “I think everyone’s hearts stopped for a second because we all thought it dropped through the cracks in the deck,” says Kendall. Luckily her ring was found. In the meantime, the couples’ mothers searched for Jesse’s ring, found it and had it handed to Kendall in time for the ceremony. “We all had a good laugh when the ceremony was over,” says Kendall.

Kendall and Jesse Cummings, who own a gym, make their home in Port Orchard.
