When Obadiah “OB” and Amanda Pittman were planning their wedding, they had no idea it would snow on their wedding day, Jan. 7, 2017 in Tumwater. The photographer, Krystal Switzer, of South Sound Weddings, quickly saw the possibilities of photographing OB and Amanda while it was snowing. The results were stunning.
Wedding color scheme: Using the colors of black, white and silver, the couple sought to create a simple, timeless and fun wedding and reception. “Finding a good photographer was the most important element to us because we knew the pictures from that day would be something we will enjoy for the rest of our lives,” says Amanda Pittman. “Once we chose Krystal, the second most important thing was to have an elegant ceremony and reception in the most cost-effective way possible.”
Morning brunch wedding: The couple said they love breakfast food, so at their wintertime wedding, they thought it would be fun to serve coffee, hot cocoa and doughnuts. It was a big hit with the guests.
For reception décor, there were white floral centerpieces with some greenery – all in varied heights – which created visual interest on the tables. They used silver accented décor throughout their decorations. Their sweetheart table had a shimmering silver tablecloth. “It really made our table stand out in a simple way,” says Amanda.
Amanda offers this advice to couples: “Don’t feel pressured to accommodate to everyone who is attending your wedding and reception. Plan the event the way you want it, and all those who care about you will be content to just be a part of your happy day.”
