Tessa and Alex Wardian were married at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.
VENUE: The couple chose the Museum of Glass because of the backgrounds it offered for photography. They also liked that the unique setting required minimal decorations. The couple's wedding was on Sept. 6, 2015, at 6:30 p.m.
HOW THEY MET: Tessa and Alex met at the Little Red Hen, a country-music bar in Green Lake (Seattle), during a karaoke night. They were together for three years and engaged for nine months.
VISION: The couple set out to have an enjoyable and entertaining wedding. “We wanted to add personal touches that made it uniquely us,” says Tessa. To personalize the wedding to reflect their favorite things, they included art and wine and had the theme song from “Star Wars” as their wedding recessional.
COLORS AND DECOR: Tessa and Alex chose bright colors for their wedding and reception to “offset the large reception area with lots of chrome,” says Tessa. Their colors were chartreuse, coral and blush.
GUEST FAVORS: Guests received heart-shaped, rose-gold-colored wine stoppers.
SPECIAL MOMENTS: Among the many memorable moments from the wedding, the couple especially enjoyed hearing each other's vows, signing the marriage certificate and seeing their guests have a really good time. The wedding procession music was “The Book of Love” by Peter Gabriel.
MEMORABLE, UNEXPECTED MOMENTS: “The flower girl sat on different people’s laps during dinner and speeches because she thought she should be part of the grown-up wedding party table,” says Tessa. For the first 10 minutes of the ceremony, the guests remained standing because the officiant forgot to tell them to sit down. Tessa remembers something else unexpected: “Many of our guests tried all seven cake flavors at the reception.”
Tessa is a family nurse practitioner and Alex is a dentist. They make their home in Snohomish.
