Kitsap couple ride horses to wedding ceremony

Jessie and James were married at their home in Poulsbo — the Lazy Horse Equine Center — on June 14, 2014. “We felt happy and comfortable surrounded by our animals, family and friends,” explains Jessie.

Their rustic wedding took place in a lush pasture. Trees and flowering plants from a local nursery adorned the ceremony site. After the wedding, Jessie and James intended to plant them in their yard, but their goats ate some before they had a chance!

The bride and groom rode into the ceremony on horseback. They dismounted to stand together in front of an arbor to say their vows. Once the officiant declared them husband and wife, they rode in a horse-drawn carriage to the reception, on another part of their property.

A fun focal point for one of the wedding photos was a 1955 Hudson Metropolitan car the couple stood near.

For guest favors, Jessie and James put together jars of their favorite candies.

The couple lives in Poulsbo; Jessie is a horse trainer, and James works for the U.S. Navy.
