WHO: Nicole and Ryan
VENUE: The Edgewater House in Olalla in Kitsap County
COLORS: Tangerine orange and watermelon pink
DÉCOR: Guests dropped greeting cards into an old mailbox that Nicole had painted orange, adding the couple’s monogram.
She designed the programs to double as fans by attaching Popsicle sticks for handles.
For the reception, white lights were strung across the patio yard.
UNIQUE TOUCHES: Nicole enjoyed making several projects for her wedding and reception, putting to good use her interior design degree. “I got in a little over my head with DIY projects,” she says.
Displayed throughout the wedding were paper orchids in the wedding colors, which were made by a friend.
SPECIAL MOMENTS: “My husband and his family fully embrace all the Hawaiian traditions,” says Nicole. Her bridesmaids took hula-dancing lessons and performed the hula during the reception.
A family friend made red wine for the wedding. “It was such a special gift,” says Nicole. “We will never forget their thoughtfulness.”
GREEN: The jars for the candy buffet came from thrift shops and the beverage bar was made of old, weathered wooden wine barrels.
FAVORS: Lunch-size brown paper bags with an “m” monogram served as candy favor bags.
