WHO: Breanne Shelley and Daniel LeBlanc
VENUE: Tacoma Country & Golf Club
COLORS: Black, ivory, royal blue and apple green
DÉCOR: Vintage theme
Leather suitcases symbolized the travels the couple had taken together. (Breanne and Daniel took three cross-country trips to visit family between October 2010 and January 2011. They have been to 29 states together!)
Photos in vintage frames were set up everywhere at the ceremony and reception. Also on display were ceramic platters made into chalkboards with sayings on them.
The map-themed wedding programs were handmade.
UNIQUE TOUCHES: Breanne’s mother, Colleen Shelley, used handmade satin roses and vintage buttons and brooches to make the bride’s and bridesmaids’ bouquets. Each bouquet was customized with a brooch of the woman’s initial.
SPECIAL MOMENTS: As the eldest grandchild and the first to get married, “it has always been my dream for my grandpa to see me get married,” says Breanne. “It was very memorable for me to dance with my father, then my grandfather.”
When the groom took the bride’s garter off her leg, he played the theme music from “Mission Impossible.” “He had a whole skit to go with it,” Breanne says. “The crowd was laughing hysterically.”
Two brothers, Ryan, 17, and Spencer, 12, served as the ring man and flower boy, respectively. Colleen had been their nanny and they were both special friends of Breanne’s. It meant a lot to the bride and her mom that “her boys” were part of this special day.
FAVORS: Black Scrabble tile holders were placed at every person’s seat. Crystal bowls held Scrabble tiles so guests could make their own sayings to take home.
Guests moved to other tables in search of tiles they needed, which encouraged visiting. “Lots of fun conversations came of this,” says Colleen.
