Port Gamble autumn wedding features fall colors

Andrea and Preston were married on Oct. 27, 2013, in Port Gamble. Andrea describes the event as “a simple, elegant wedding that was very intimate and, of course, fun.”

The couple embraced fall colors of red, orange and yellow in their flowers and décor.

At first the couple wanted an August wedding, but while planning, Andrea learned that Preston’s tour of duty on a U.S. submarine had been extended. “Our dream of an outdoor summer wedding had to change,” she says. “But having a fall wedding was even better than I had originally imagined. All the colors were perfect, the weather was nice and, even though I initially thought that the worst thing had happened, it was still the most memorable day of my life.”

While Preston was working at sea, Andrea did most of the planning herself, but when he returned, he added his ideas to the plans.

The couple gave the 110 guests small bags containing tea bags, cider mix and soft caramels. The bags were tied with a cinnamon stick and a note saying, “Warmest wishes.” “We thought it would be a perfect gift for those crisp autumn days,” says Andrea.

Andrea shares her favorite memory from her wedding: “Walking down the aisle, I don’t think I have ever been so nervous, scared and happy all at the same time. Being surrounded by my family and friends, and being able to share the love that we have with them was an amazing experience.”

Andrea works in customer service, marketing and sales while Preston works for the U.S. Navy.
