After 20 years together, Stephanie and Chris decided to tie the knot. In an August wedding inspired by a vintage cottage garden, the West Sound couple wanted to acknowledge “the love and support of our family and friends” while celebrating their history and the paths that brought them together.
KITSAP COUNTY WEDDING VENUE: Holly Lane Gardens, Bainbridge Island
DECOR: The couple’s family helped with decorations, which featured signs made from repurposed fencing and stencils and menus folded to look like cootie-catchers (the popular children’s games made from of folded paper and used to tell the future). Warm lighting bounded the dance floor, while the bride’s late-grandmother’s antique table linens combined with burlap table runners finished the vintage garden atmosphere.
FAVORS: The couple provided parasols to fight the August heat, and guests also received bundles of bubbles and Jordan almonds.
UNIQUE TOUCHES: In addition to some of the décor, the couple opted to use eco-friendly disposable cups and LED low-wattage lights as a way to make their wedding more eco-friendly. Stephanie added, “We were careful to use local vendors and artisans as much as possible.”
SPECIAL MOMENTS: Before the ceremony, Stephanie surprised Chris with a gift of whiskey and cigars. It helped “Relax the guys and added to their camaraderie,” says Stephanie.
In another special moment, their six-year-old granddaughter gave a loving and impromptu toast during the reception.
