A wedding photographer has the privilege of witnessing some of the most intimate and cherished moments in a family’s history. From the bride’s anticipation before she walks down the aisle to the mother of the groom shedding a tear as she dances with her son, these are moments that will forever be a part of the couple’s legacy.
Great wedding photographers are storytellers who observe, feel and artistically interpret the couple’s day. The photographer’s responsibility is to capture the moments and emotions and insightfully tell their story. It is much more than simply freezing a moment in time.
Photographers seek to gain trust and develop a strong connection to a couple. That trust is paramount in telling wedding stories because the participants must feel comfortable to let their true selves be seen.
Brandee Miller attests, “I still laugh and cry every time I look at my pictures. The same emotions run through my head because they are all captured in the photographs. It is like I am reliving the moment with each page I flip through.”
This goal — telling the story of the day through a series of expressive images — keeps the heart in wedding photography. It reminds those involved what truly is important on that day: two individuals celebrating their love through the sacred vows of marriage.
