Fox Island wedding, Gig Harbor wedding reception

Couple marries on Fox Island and celebrate their wedding reception at the Inn at Gig Harbor.

WHO: Christine and Austin
VENUE: Chapel on Echo Bay, Fox Island, with reception at The INN at Gig Harbor
SEASON: Winter
COLORS: Red, green and silver
DÉCOR / FLORIST: Glittery pinecones, Christmas ornaments and garlands created by Jen's Blossoms
THEME: Holiday spirit and intimate, with a total of 14 relatives and close friends in attendance.

UNIQUE TOUCHES: Before the service, each guest was given a personalized, color-coded card and a bottle of colored sand. “On the card, we wrote special thoughts about that person, telling them how much they mean to us,” explains Christine. After reading their cards, the guests poured their sand into a vase, and tucked away the cards as keepsakes. Guests also wrote greetings to the couple on black notecards, which were then dropped into the vase.

SPECIAL MOMENTS: Austin’s two children from his previous marriage were involved in the ceremony. “There were some aspects of the wedding that focused on us becoming one family together,” says Christine.

A harpist performed at the chapel and the bride planned a surprise dove release at the end of their ceremony.

FAVORS: Every guest received an individual gift in a glittery white, red or silver Chinese-food take-out box. “Due to our extremely small guest list, we were able to individualize the favors and (hopefully) make everyone feel appreciated and special to us,” says Christine. “It was fun to watch them open their boxes and find that they didn’t get the same thing as the guest next to them."

Families also received custom Christmas ornaments, and each adult received an etched beer mug. Everyone received a welcome bag at the inn.
