Country-chic garden wedding in Poulsbo

Beautiful farm hosts country-style wedding.

UNIQUE TOUCHES: Margo and Josh incorporated their families’ heritage and traditions into their ceremony. Instead of boutonnieres, the groomsmen and ring bearer wore maile ti leaf leis recognizing Margo’s father’s Hawaiian heritage. A Chinese lion dance was performed to recognize Margo’s cultural roots.

In place of a guest book, Margo’s mom placed fabric squares and pens on a table so that guests could sign the squares. She will make a quilt for the couple.

DÉCOR: “We loved Llama Rose Farm because it has picturesque, beautiful gardens, and the llamas and goats made it interesting and unique,” says Margo. “It was a naturally gorgeous location that did not require a lot of other décor.”

The reception tables were created by using burlap and twine. Hawaiian flowers — proteas and orchids – were part of the décor, along with Northwestern hydrangeas, Queen Anne’s lace and craspedia.

Centerpieces were made of mason jars wrapped in twine and smaller jars decorated with paper flowers — all placed on a chevron table runner. A paper flower garland was wrapped around the ring bearer’s wagon.

FAVORS: The couple planned to have the 70 guests toast marshmallows for s’mores during the reception, but it was too hot on their Aug. 4 wedding date. Instead, s’more packages were favors for guests.

SPECIAL MOMENTS: During the reception, one of the groomsmen gave a speech. “It was one of the best speeches I have ever heard,” says Margo. “It had everyone laughing, crying and smiling. It’s something I will never forget.”

With 70 guests, the couple was able to spend time visiting with all of them. “It really made the event intimate and relaxed,” says Margo.
