Country picnic wedding in Steilacoom

Bright orange and lime green indoor wedding in Steilacoom, WA.

WHO: Ashley and Roy “Tee”
VENUE: Town of Steilacoom
SEASON: Spring
COLORS: Bright orange and lime green

THEME: The couple, both of whom work for the U.S. Air Force, were stationed overseas, so they hired Krista Herman of Wishes! Wedding and Event Planning. Embracing their vacation time in March, they didn’t let cloudy skies dampen their desire for a ceremony showcasing summertime festivities, including a country picnic.

DÉCOR: Galvanized buckets were filled with bright flowers. At the reception, sweet iced tea, custom-made lemonade and barbecue were served. Punctuating the décor were pitchers filled with cut-up limes and flowers and placed on burlap tablecloths.

UNIQUE TOUCHES: The flower girl also served as the ring bearer. She carried a flower box with rings attached instead of dropping petals down the aisle. “It was a very cute idea and she loved it,” says Ashley.

During the reception, guests enjoyed mini-pies and cupcakes. A cupcake tower featured giant cupcake as the topper, which was cut instead of a traditional wedding cake.

SPECIAL MOMENTS: “We both wrote our own personal vows for each other,” says Ashley. “Hearing what each of us felt from the heart instead of repeating the traditional vows was the best.”
